We lucked out being able to join our nephew Austin & niece Kindle on this Rick Steves' vacation tour of Europe. They had purchased seats as a graduation gift for their twin sons, but the boys declined the invitation, so we gladly accepted the invite with passports in hand. We have watched Rick Steves' travel documentaries for many years on PBS TV, and have always wanted to take one of these tours eventually. And hey, we're almost Rick's neighbors as Lene worked at a landscaping company in Edmonds WA for many years! At first, we didn't think we'd be happy with a bus-style tour, but we quickly learned how enjoyable this type of travel can be, especially not having to drive a car for 3 weeks!
The Rick Steves' Best of Europe in 21 Days Tour does involve a bit of walking when not on the bus between cities (around 2-8 miles each day) and our luggage needed to be hand carried between hotels. Packing light with layered clothing was the key!
The tour went very smoothly, with only a couple of hiccups. Lene got pickpocketed in Rome on the subway (even though her pocketbook was hidden way up under two layers of clothing). We managed to stop her cards by calling the bank, and continued our trip using my cards. The second hiccup was when Lene broke the fibia bone in her leg while hiking above Murren. She's healed up now, but to read further details, click the link above for Switzerland Tour Period and Guides: Sun, June 18, 2023 — Sat, July 8, 2023 Guide: Joseph 'Joe' Wray Tour Assistant: Yaren Turkoglu
